Someone compared Spendor A4 with M109 or M140?

Opinions?

Maybe useless, but I had S3 and A6 some years ago ... nice speakers, but the M109 are more musical

Not useless :) Enough to make me not go that way. I have no way to listen myself. Majik 140 doesn't seem to be a clear upgrade either from what I hear and read.

Just a quick comment: my impression is that Spendor does not follow a strict upgrade path, I found the A4 (with Lejonklou Boazu) more musical than A7 or D9.2 (both more expensive than A4). I kept the A4:s for a second system, and enjoy them with a Majik DSM. I can only compare the A4 with 109 from memory, and that may not be that useful.

I had some Spendor A6 once.
Rather relaxed, unexciting to some ears, restful to others.
Not the same as the A4 - I know.

But the A6s were greatly improved to replacing all the push-on plugs and sockets inside with nice solder joints.
Came to life a lot.
Still not as dynamic and musical as the Totem Signature Model Ones that replaced them.

Donuk sunny downtown York

PS I recently placed the Totems on this forum for sale thread. I thought I would give them a farewell listen before saying goodbye to them. I sat them on my newly acquired Linn 109 stands...

They are amazing. They are staying - I have compared them with KEF LS50s and LS50metas.
The Totems come out on top.....
Moral - stand mounted speakers are very dependent on the stands.

I agree with good stands for stand mounts, getting it right
makes a it improvement.

My impression is that many, many Hi-Fi companies don't have a "strict upgrade path". It is very common for the least expensive products from a company to be their most musical. Indeed I feel it is a rarity in this industry to find a company where spending more money gets you a more musical product. Lejonklou is definitely one of those rarities.

And the other rarities are Naim and Linn? Are there other companies?
