Re: Linn forum down?
I think Linn have made a mistake dropping their forum for so long for the following reasons: 1) People like me are finding they no longer miss it. Have broken the habit. 2) They are likely to create a sense of anticlimax. (no pun intended). After all this wait, I can imagine myself saying "Oh, is th...

So it can be said that Ozzzy now has a different set up in more than one way. It was a great day.....

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Sorry if it has been discussed already in this long thread but in my view the advent of Katalyst has changed the performance of Linn Streamers beyond recognition. Not so much an upgrade, but more like buying a machine from a totally different stable. And of course there are only two or three firmwar...

Nice to meet up again Ozzy, indeed.
I replaced my sockets with unswitched ones years ago. Can't say I immediately heard a difference, but it means there are fewer contacts in the circuit to get tarnished.

Re: Optimal House Wiring
Forgive me if this has been mentioned before on this long and ageing thread. Something I have mentioned on a forum somewhere before, but which I believe got little response is to consider what happens to mains cables as they sit screwed into sockets. Now, whether you are on a ring or a spur, the cha...

Re: Lejonklou with other speakers besides Linn and JBL
I have a pair of the original classic Totem Signature Model 1s. They work very well with my Tundra 2. I use them on a pair of Linn Kann stands. A couple of regular correspondents to this forum have heard my system and would endorse this. Although my speakers have not been in production for a year or...

Tunedem - is this a new page?
Hi chaps Is this a relatively new Tunedem page from Linn? https://www.linn.co.uk/tunedem I know some of you know my reservations about tunedem, so we won't get into a debate, but I think Ivor's quote is, to put it kindly, silly. If it were Facebook I would add, after his name, "says a mechanical eng...

Re: Holographic sound the final frontier?
I am concerned about the concept of holographic presentation. A solitary instrument in an anechoic environment might apparently produce sound from a small point of space, but are real world performances in any way holographic? Sound waves mix, inter-modulate and bounce. Is facing a stage or sitting ...

I just want perceived value, knobs and gadgets.
And a visible output meter.
And a thermionic valve somewhere in the power supply
And for the case to be designed by an Italian
And separate mains supplies for each channel
Tea-making facilities would be over-doing it.

Re: Tundra TARANDUS
I was rather surprised to discover that folk were getting upset on this forum. I am only making this contribution to try to be helpful. Firstly, I have met Sunbeam, Frederick, and have corresponded quite a bit with Thomas over the years. I sort of feel I know them. When I read Sunbeam's comment, I l...
Re: Jazz
I like playing jazz more than listening to it. For me, jazz is all about musicians interacting in real-time and hence - best enjoyed performing it yourself in real-time. Not the same listening to OTHERS doing it. Very seldom play jazz at home. Good job we don't all feel like you or else we would ne...
Re: Jazz
I always suggest to people who are new to jazz, and perhaps do not have a developed ear for it to try some of the simpler artists. That is, perhaps easier to understand, giving more hint of the original tune and chord progression in their improvisations. You can then assess what they are trying to d...

I think it is great that this thread has proven popular. I am surprised our moderators let it run (although I did say that I had voted Carly Simon's record the best after auditioning it by the tunedem method to validate my view). So, Mr L, how about a category on this forum called music??? Donuk sun...

Re: The meaning of Source First
I think debates like this are inevitable on a forum which is populated by people who have very firm opinions. Which is a shame: people who hold different views will be reluctant to contribute. We are not professional journalists, nor university students having to produce papers which are academicall...

Re: asking for upgrade advice
Dear Mike Yes, you have received a variety of views on this forum, just like you would in the pub. If you want to use the Linn streamer with a preamp, yes you will have to fix the output level. It is easy to do this - you need to download the Linn Konfig software form their site, free. Put it on a c...
