Yes, there is the furniture as well. I didn't think of that as the furniture is often a fixed parameter and I demonstrate replacing cables.

Then we have three things that are equally close to the source:
Power cord, Interconnect, Furniture.

I don't think it has to do with the level of the bass, but rather with the frequency response and the Q value. If this is actually the case, it does not matter if you change the level of the woofer (on the aktiv card) or if you play a different record. The only aktiv setting that could matter is the...

The loose connection depends on the spring in the male part of the BFA, inside your 2250's. I don't have any solution to this, but one option is to change from male BFA to the old type female banana that Linn used in their poweramps before they switched to BFA. This however requires a good soldering...

what about speaker positioning passive vs. active? Active and passive require different speaker positions. This must be due to the shelving of the bass (the lowest bass is amplified) in Linn's aktiv filters. But if the frequency response in the bass is changed dramatically (as with the aktiv filter...

If you define the mains power as source, yes. But if you define the record you are playing as source, it becomes source first. In my experience, the closer you get to the record (or rather; where the music originates), the more important it is. With this view, the power cord is closer to the source ...

I have avoided answering because I find it difficult to answer... :| My feeling is that the electronics shouldn't affect placement, but in reality when I do big changes to a system (but the speakers remain unchanged), I can retune and sometimes find a slightly different speaker position. I have stil...

Sorry, no marvellous power distribution strip on the horizon yet. At least not from me. I am not entirely happy with any of the parts I have tried so far. The strip however appears to be less important than the power cords. Good cords connected to a decent strip works well. The cord between wall and...

You have convinced me, Linnofil. I'm going to buy one. I thought the price was high but will probably think it's money well spent once I have installed it and dig into my vinyl collection.

Listening to vinyl is already one of my favourite pastimes. Can't resist taking it to the next level.

Hm... What you are saying above seems to be correct. I never thought or heard of this as a policy decision, though. None of the product histories are 100% complete, but they were rather detailed in the early days and then gradually became more crude. If Linn have decided to drop them completely, it ...

On the demo I attended, it was clearly better. No more than that IMHO.

I think there is a bit of confusion here... It seems you are all talking about different ways of connecting the balanced cable. Paolo: You mean that in the source end, you connect cable "hot" to the RCA centre pin, "cold" to the RCA screen and cable screen to RCA screen. In the receiver end, you con...

Regarding the comparison Lingo 1 vs Lingo 2, I must point out that there is a slight variation in absolute speed between all Lingo units. If you run into a situation where you have a Lingo 1 that is on the slow side and compare it with a Lingo 2 that is on the fast side, you can get 0.5% higher spee...

Can't be there either, but I'd really love to hear some impressions afterwards. I think this approach is really smart as the Keel will most likely be regarded as inexpensive after the comparison. And when you've Keeled your LP12, you attend the Ekos SE demo that the shop will arrange at a later date...

Most probably Linn supply a good one in the US and have it for sale as a spare part. They usually pick the best sounding model after listening to a large number. Naim do the same, you could check what cord they supply with their machines.

Maybe Thomas can shed some light on this issue?

Hi Tom, No it isn't, at least not at the moment. To make one, I would probably have to listen through everything again, with a US wall plug and 120 Volts. Then place a rather large order for the best combination. Doable, but not in my plans at the moment. I know that some people in America use a ded...

AKG K24P arrived today. Plugged them in and in a direct comparison with my well run-in Koss Porta Pro's (that I never use) the AKG's sound much more in tune. The Porta Pro's feel quite soggy and almost like they add a bit of wow&flutter to the music.

Very promising.

Shuko (euro) type distribution block I don't claim this to be the best distribution block available, but nearly! It sounds good and is very cheap. In Sweden the 6-way block is available at Clas Ohlson for SEK 35 (4€) and the part number is 32-7216. The cable is 1.4 meters long. The exact same type i...

Hi Lex and thanks for the good wishes! I have experimented with this many times. So far, the best method has been to solder the K400 to the BFA, but a high wattage soldering station and a high thermal capacity pen/tip is needed for best results. Also, the solder* and temperature makes a big differen...

Everything out of aluminium starts as a cast piece. But that piece can be forged which makes it a lot harder. Presumably the block of aluminium that Linn starts with is forged (drawn), and therefore extremely strong. If you cast the Keel directly, it will not be as strong. I don't know exactly what ...
