Moved music to the HAKAS NAS.
Disconnected Ethernet from the MDSi.
Disconnected the QNAP NAS and moved it away.
Gave the good placement to the HAKAI NAS, on wood board and damping feet etc.
And now AGAIN I sit with a wide open mouth.. wow. WOW! More tuneful, more feet stomping AND more hifi!

Re: HAKAI playground
The difference between A and B is which android app I used to start the song. A = BubbleDS. B = Linn Kazoo. I definitely prefer B myself. Lumin and BubbleUPnP sound the same as BubbleDS. Only Kazoo is different and IMHO much better musically. I don't understand how this is possible! The app crashes ...

Re: HAKAI playground
Soon I will reveal what is changed between A and B. I think you may be surprised. I'll also reveal my own vote, of course, but it doesn't count for much since I'm not "blind" in the test. I'll say one thing though. I didn't think I'd hear the difference in the third track but it was actually easier ...

Re: Power cords
Defender, you are right! I did read the thread multiple times but that was some weeks ago, before my own Nordost test. Apologies! One of my friend who has a lot of computer gear already checked all his equipment if any power cables had the brands I want. He's a good friend, doesn't ask any questions...

Re: HAKAI playground
I wanted to make the test as BLIND as possible. No one else knew what is the difference between A and B, nor which one I prefer myself.
Does anyone want another song to compare A and B?

Re: Power cords
Great post, thank you. I will wait patiently here for their comments, if any. :) Meanwhile, some week ago I discovered that my old HP printer had a 2m Longwell 0.75mm2 power cord.. I discovered it but disregarded it for quite a while because the text ran the wrong way.. Big mistake - perhaps it's no...

Re: Power cords
I want to hear what you guys think. How do such expensive power cables compare in terms of tune for instance with a power cable that comes with a Klimax DS?

Re: HAKAI playground
Thank you for listening and your comments.
It sounds better in the room, yes. :)
However the DIFFERENCE between the two examples is the same even with the clips. I find that in itself quite fantastic!

This is my first experiment! I recorded on my laptop so apologies for the awful sound quality. :-D I am playing on HAKAI -> MDSi -> M109. There is one difference between the clips. Re: Power cords
1. I want to buy power cords (for HAKAI and HAKAI NAS). Which one should I buy? I read this whole thread twice already. :) 2. Yesterday I was on town, and went into a hifi store selling various highend stuff. I asked them about power cables, honest that I was just curious, and probably wouldn't buy ...
Re: Volumio.
Since different versions of Volumio have different tune, some people want to compare various versions. It turned out to be difficult to find some versions. I share what I found here. Versions 1.x can be found at https://sourceforge.net/projects/volumio . It would be very cool if someone tries some 1...

Re: HAKAI playground
OK, if there are no choices (there used to be several older versions available for download and then one could sometimes uppgrade to the latest in the interface - something I'm from experience not 100% sure will always gives the same result, but it seemed to when I tested it) then it's not an optio...

I have a feeling that Radio Paradise (at 320k mp3) is more musical than FLAC in my own NAS?!

Re: Paaf system
No problem. Let me know if you need some help when building it. When I upgraded to Black IC, it wasn't very nice the first few songs, then quickly it started sounding good. When I upgraded to Silver IC mk1 it was awful and bright for a few songs... then quickly started changing into sounding very go...

Re: Paaf system
Yes, of course. For installation, do not use the "install" choice in the menu after booting on the usb-stick, this is super tempting, but for some reason totally kills the music. Instead just do exactly as per the instructions with two usb-sticks.

Re: Paaf system
HAKAI now performs well. The software was the culprit! One way to install really kills the joy of the music. Another way lets the music flow! I also got my first Linn Silver IC pair and... oh boy, now it sounds really good. Surely now there's nothing more to tweak... now I've reached nirvana, right?...
Re: Volumio.
LUMIN needs the value “Lumincompat” = 1 in upmpdcli.conf Thanks. I tried Lumin, and also the free BubbleUPNP. All have the same issue. You never experienced this? This was exactly what I heard when comparing various old versions of Volumio. Thank you for writing this! Unless it's a folie à deux... ...
Re: Volumio.
I now tested MPD 0.20.21 vs MPD 0.20.23 and the former is more musical (despite not compiling correctly). Actually, it's a confusing experience. Any detail that I listen for, you know, "more tuneful bass line" etc just didn't work. Everything is identical but.. the latter one just sounds boring. Did...
Re: Volumio.
Changes in the GUI override mpd.conf or rather; it edits mpd.conf Excellent. Can you check if this is also the case with Linn Kazoo and/or Lumin? We have to be sure if it's caused by Volumio or the control app. Same issue in Linn Kazoo. Lumin automatically switches my preamp to the internal streame...
Re: Volumio.
I have set the buffer in mpd.conf to 2048 and buffer before play to 20% I tried all options, but this one seems the best in performance. 1024 has never worked for me either Thanks for that confirmation, I thought I was the only one experiencing stutter. I never tested 1024 since it's not an option ...
Re: Volumio.
For some reason I could continue despite the errors, so I could finally run MPD 0.20.21. Then I did it all over again for 0.20.23 which gave no errors and runs well. My goal with all this work was to get rid of the playlist bug, but it is still there! There are also 0.21.x versions but I gave up aft...
Re: Volumio.
I have now installed 2.394, this time I did it by the "book", using the double usb-sticks. The first two installs actually failed miserably, the first "burn" of the usb-stick must have failed. Burn again and try again, and everything went crazy... but third time, perfection. The good news is that it...
