Re: What’s Slam Got To Do With It?
Do you mean bass that you feel? Quite a lot of my music produces that, and it is fun, but for me not what I enjoy most. I can tune my speaker positions to produce more bass that shakes the room, but I optimise them to play bass that sounds in tune, and this generally means a bit less bass to my ear...

Re: What Makes a Loudspeaker Musical?
I've never designed or built a loudspeaker in my life, but I do know that any material will damp resonances at some frequencies. It's also pretty well known that symmetry is not a must for speaker cabinets for performace reasons, they are done more for cost reasons. This makes me thing that experime...

Re: A Newbie looking for suggestions
What would be the best gain setting on the Entity connected to the Rega P6 with Ania Pro MC? The Entity doesn't have gain settings, it's 71db. This should work fine with the Ania Pro's fairly low 0.35mV output. The three loading settings for the Entity are all in the same ballpark, just try them al...

Re: What causes high capacity in MM?
What effect does the high capacity have on the sound? Typically it will cause peaking and premature falloff in the treble. There can be significant differences in brightness between different loading of the same MM cart, so it is worth trying to get at least close to the recommended cart specs. The...
Re: Entity MC
These were originally DNM cartridges, but after some turns I don't know about, they range ended up with Swiss Reson, as far as I know it's not changed since DNM times. It's basically a Golding Elite (the current version, not the original) with tweaked suspension. One very obvious point of critique i...
Re: Entity MC
Well after some digging after information to the best I could, including ordering a back-issue of Stereoplay that had a review, I ended up with a Reson Etile. I am happy to report that the output level does indeed not cause any issues with the Entity. It does put out a bit more signal than the Dynav...
Re: Entity MC
Thank you Fredrik, the main reason for my question was to ensure that a cart specced at 0.5mV @ 5 cm/s, which is a fairly common spec, is safe to buy to use with the Entity. Looks like I got my answer :)
Re: Entity MC
Hello and welcome! The 0,4 mV at 3,54 cm/s means 0,5656 mV at 5 cm/s. So with the Dynavector's output of 0,3 mV at 5 cm/s you're ok. What are your thoughts regarding an upgrade? Or maybe open a new thread for that. Cheers, Björn Thank you very much - so I was correct then in assuming a nominal outp...
Re: Entity MC
Hello Everyone, Since this is my first post, a quick presentation :) My name is Robert and I joined this forum after lurking here occasionally, mostly because I have become the owner of an Entity 1.2, and a Linn Silver RCA cable to connect it to my preamp earlier this year. It is currently amplifyin...
