Re: Where to next?
Hmm... I think you can't go wrong with the R2 upgrade - I have a similar LP12 - but outside of that are many options! I'm struck by your Urika II and KDSM combo in between the LP12 and Boazu. I've listened to several KDS/Ms including the NG version, and heard Boazu in both 1.1 and 1.3 forms, I wonde...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
Nice to hear that your Kandid is still going - mine is only 4 years old but starting to lose its edge.
I prefer B on all clips. It seems better able to present a coherent musical picture.

Re: Hermanns System
I've only listened to two tracks, off my iphone earphones. I liked Kari on A, but some of the backing became confused. On B, there was more expression in her voice, and the band were more coherent. With Take 5, Paul Desmond's sax sounded more natural on B, it was quite harsh/unnatural on A. On both ...

Re: Which App ? (Streaming + Local)
Spannko, I suggest you try adding a GS108T (or 308). I've just tried going direct from my 4G router (Huawei B535-333) and quickly re-inserted a GS108T. It will be interesting to see if your 4G router produces a different result...

Re: David Neel's magical system
- to my surprise I preferred the preamp, not the source, on the better shelf! After confirming this finding when the SMs returned, I've now split the rack into three stacks. A centre one for LP12, Entity, Radikal, Källa, and two outer stacks for two Monos each. So the SMs now have the bronze suppor...

Re: Linn Klimax Solo 800
I had an interesting listen this morning. The Linn Selekt Edition, as an all-in-one amplifier into ATC SCM11s, with Klimax LP12 as source. Contrary to my recent impressions of Linn electronics, this was extremely good. I did not hear the streamer section.

Re: Linn Klimax Solo 800
I've heard them with NGKDSM, ATC speakers and two stacks of Rel subs, all with filtered power blocks. I wouldn't swap that system for what I've got... I've previously felt NGKDSM to be hifi analytical rather than musically engaging, so I suspect the source, and maybe the power blocks were the main r...

Re: David Neel's magical system
Two years on, and Källa has changed my listening habits, and broadened my already reasonably wide musical tastes. It has become my more-used source. There are some things my LP12 can do that Källa can't, but for the majority of the time in the past two years it has been streaming not vinyl. As a res...

Agreed! I had the privilege of running-in 024 while my SMs made the same journey. There is an enthusiasm and exuberance about SK which captivates your attention and draws you into the music. Yes, I'm very pleased to have my SMs back after the 1.7 upgrade, and on the clips which Fredrik posted I pref...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises
I’ve had both speakers in the past, and I’m surprised by the margin of my preference for the kans. Reminds me of the comparison I did between a modern Majik-i (with Dynamik) vs Wakonda/LK140. The modern Linn amp was nice but a bit boring somehow. I recall you preferred the LK amps that time too. I ...

My TM3s have also made me play more vinyl, and the single source difference is much more obvious. :)

Re: Recommended network components
The GS108Tv2 (the best sounding version) is available used on eBay for less than £40. It was originally offered with a lifetime guarantee and the specs quoted something like millions of hours mean time before failure, so they make a solid used buy. I have a very simple network: a 4G wireless router...

Re: Linn 50th Anniversary
The Keel collar arrangement is a bit of a mystery. I have heard that. as the regular Keel is CNC machined from a solid billet, the arm collar has to have a curve where it meets the flat surface of the armboard. Apparently the design guru insisted that this curve be eliminated and a right-angle subs...

Yes -captivating and at times bewitching, evocative and haunting; and every other emotion one can attach to beautifully reproduced music. I totally agree u252agz! I’ve heard some very musical systems, but only listening through TM3’s have I experienced a sense of nervousness within myself as a resu...

Re: Damping an Akurate Radikal?
Why did you use two large pieces of Dynamat? Anything resembling the original feet and positioned similarly would have made sense. Only because they were available. I agree, something approximating the original feet would have been better. I’ll return to this in a few weeks when I have more time.

Re: Damping an Akurate Radikal?
Thanks for all the input. I’ve just tried the Radikal upside down. As I have no suitable feet, I rested it on two large pieces of Dynamat. Different, but not better. And it messes up the cable runs as well as looking bad! After picking up the Radikal, I realised that the case may not be as heavy as ...

Re: Damping an Akurate Radikal?
“Stick with it” :) - I like that… From what I gather, it’s only with the adhesive that it damps. Just placing it on top would be equivalent to placing a magazine on top. But thanks for the thought. I may start by placing small piece on the inside of the casing, rather than a large piece. I have enou...

Damping an Akurate Radikal?
We know that a Klimax Radikal is better. I’ve heard it myself. But I have the Akurate casing. Has anyone ever tried adding damping to the Akurate casework? I’ve just had my car doors damped with Dynamat to minimise the speaker boom/resonance. This was successful, and there are some offcuts… Dynamat ...

Re: Tundra Mono 3
There is a saying that if you need to measure an improvement, you haven't got one. When 021/022 arrived I had been using a loaned Tundra stereo 2.5, as my TM2s were sold earlier. I intended to do a comparison, but never bothered. From the first track, cold and at low volume, the improvement didn't n...
