Thanks for the replies. You're quite right, of course, that what matters most is getting the best from the system you're got. I've worked my way up to it over the years, starting from an old Harmon Kardon amp (can't remember which one) and a portable CD player, feeding into a pair of Wharfedale spea...

I think that both of you are right, to some extent :) The DS should work with any UPnP media server (Twonky or a different option)...but SlimServer is not UPnP compatible! However, it is possible to use a Squeezebox with a UPnP server rather than SlimServer, but this option is slightly less user-fri...

A modest system
Compared to a lot of the systems here, this seems pretty modest, but it does nicely for me... Source: Modified Naim CD3.5 Pre: AV5103 Power: AV5125 + Stereo aktiv cards Speakers: Keilidh's (upgraded to 038/2 tweeters) Interconnects: Linn blacks Speaker Cables: K400 When buying the CD player I tried ...

Definately worth focussing on the source improvement plans. However, I'm a very big fan of going active. I'd probably suggest that the most cost effective way to do this would be to trade in your Majik 2100 and get a Majik 4100 (or ideally Akurate 4200), as the Katans are only two way aktiv. This wo...
