Linn Classik vs Majik vs Kolektor+LK100
Hello, I am still very happy with my Boazu and miss it so much during summer vacation so I have started to look for a second system for the "summer house". Any comments recommendations between these systems that seems to be possible to find for around 500€ or even less. 1) Linn Majik (mid 90's-versi...

Re: ATC SCM11 with Boazu?
I tried them at home, and even with the sealed box construction they didn't work close to wall at all! Took just a couple of minutes to realize that JERN-speakers works a lot better in a bookshelf/close to wall. I have recently however upgraded to Harbeth P3ESR XD, and with my (wife's) requirement t...

Re: Troika and Naim Stageline K/S
I was in a similar situation. I had LP12/Valhalla/Circus/AT-VM95/Lejonklou Gaio, and was thinking of upgrading the pickup. But I got a Lingo 2 and the difference is bigger than and expected and could hope for. Found a 20 year old review of the Lingo 1 here and I agree with: Specifically, the new pow...

Re: The Mighty AT95E Becomes The AT-VM95E
Thank you Ron for all great information you have provided in this thread. Inspired by you I have a AT-VM95C on my LP12 right now, and it sounds good. Here is some more to read about the different stylus versions of AT-VM95 and other pickups. https://www.stereophile.com/content/gramophone-dreams-44-a...

Re: Asus Tinker Board
I installed latest version of Volumio (2.834 for Asus Tinkerboard S, and the Gigaport HD+ DAC) a couple of weeks ago. It all looked good, Volumio found the DAC, but got this error as soon as I started to play any music: Failed to open “alsa” [alsa]; Error opening ALSA device “hw:5,0”; snd_pcm_hw_par...

ATC SCM11 with Boazu?
Hello, Has anyone tried ATC SCM11 with Boazu? I went from small Elac bookshelf speakers to Linn 109 and found it as a really good upgrade. 109 play more confident. But I want more. I am looking for more body and power, and I think that the bigger volume of the ATC cabinets can give this? They are pl...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
You're the first person I have seen on the forums I am a member of with jern speakers! I recommend my friend Chris hear some. I read about them being made of cast iron and was very intrigued I bet they sound brilliant! Hello Ozzy, Coming from Linn Majik 109 I think they are a step up. They sound (a...

Re: AT95 vs. AT-VM95 pickup?
Cobra Dave, Are you currently talking about your Axis with AT95E or your new LP12 with AT-VM95E? The older AT95E body (for over 30 years) has an output of 3.5mv. The new AT-VM95E (for past 13 months) has an output of 4.0mv. If you are talking about the older version, be prepared for a shock when th...

Re: Phono gain for AT95 pickup?
60 dB is a lot for an MM cartridge, so the volume on your Boazu should be 20 steps lower to keep the volume the same (compared to the 40 dB setting). Does that seem to be the case? Yes, that is the case indeed. Earlier I had to crank up the volume on the Boazu when played LP compared to digital mus...

Phono gain for AT95 pickup?
I have a Project Phono box S and AT95e pickup. According to the phono manual a recommended input gain for MM pickup is 40 dB. I tried this, and then 43 dB instead, and I thought it sounded better. Not only louder, but fuller. I then tried 60 dB and the sound got even better. No problem what so ever ...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
Christmas came early this year. ;) I paid deposit yesterday and will get the player in the end of next week if everything goes as planed. I went for the Akito 3B/AT-VM95E option. Complete system: DEMO Majik LP12 (5 year warranty) Switch, and internal power supply changed to Valhalla (1 year warranty...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
I am sorry if I have confused you. I will try to make it easier to understand. Yes, it is the same dealer, and same player, but with two options regarding tonearm and pickup. I was interested in new Majik LP12, but I told them that I don’t like the Lenco arm and the switch. They offered me to buy th...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
Hello again, I think I was a bit unclear. The two option are: 1) Majik LP12, Ittok, Addikt Or 2) Same Majik LP 12, but with Akito, AT95, silver T-cable instead (but this option is more expensive, so I got offered to trade in my Linn Axis, Basik LV X, AT95) to be able to get the two options at the sa...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
Hello, Thank you all for your support. I have been offered a quite interesting system: A demo Majik LP12, the switch (and internal power supply) will be changed to Valhalla, Ittok LV II, Adikt. ‘ The price is fair, a bit under what a new Majik LP12 would cost. The option is to trade in my Axis to ha...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
ThomasOK, Thank you for the correction, good to know about the motor differences. I am in Europe so that’s fine then. I have some additional questions. If I get a new Majik LP12 and modify it with a Valhalla, to get down the price and a decent switch, can I then keep the motor that a new Majik LP12 ...

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
Thank you TomasOK, sound good!
I think I will try to trade in my Axis for a simple, vintage LP12.
Or enjoy my Axis until I get get a Majik LP12.
Maybe a Gaio2 sometime soon.

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
Thank you Ron the mon for your input! Appreciated, and interesting solution to build my own LP12, indeed!
If I buy a new Majik LP12 and then buy a used Lingo, can I then change the swith on the LP12 to a "lingo-switch"?

Re: Cobra Dave’s system
Thank you all for your suggestions. :) The consensus of a fair upgrade seems to be a phono (Gaio2) Slipsik 7; an upgrade that also would be a preparation for a LP12 in the future. And keep enjoying the Axis as long as possible until then. What is your take on the current entry level Majik LP12 with ...
